NJ Employment Lawyers Who Fight for Employees

As New Jersey employment lawyers representing employees from our Summit office, we build every harassment, wrongful termination, discrimination and wage case for trial from the first day, so an employer with its own legal team cannot wear you down into walking away.

Disability Rights & Discrimination Cases

Sexual Harassment & Hostile Work Environment

From unwanted advances and explicit comments to a supervisor who makes your job depend on putting up with it, we represent employees who have endured sexual harassment or a hostile workplace. The New Jersey Law Against Discrimination prohibits harassment by employers of every size, and it holds employers responsible when management knew and did nothing. When you need a New Jersey sexual harassment lawyer, we fight to stop the behavior and to recover compensation for the damage done to your career and well-being.

Wrongful Termination & Retaliation

When an employer fires, demotes or punishes you for speaking up, reporting misconduct or exercising your rights, that is illegal. We pursue wrongful termination and retaliation claims for employees punished after:

  • Reporting fraud, safety violations or illegal conduct at work
  • Refusing to take part in something they believed was unlawful
  • Complaining about discrimination or harassment
  • Requesting a disability accommodation or protected leave

New Jersey's Conscientious Employee Protection Act protects whistleblowers, and we pursue maximum damages under both state and federal protections.

Wage & Hour Claims for Unpaid Wages and Overtime

When your paycheck comes up short, the money belongs to you, and New Jersey law gives you real tools to recover it. We represent employees in claims for:

  • Unpaid wages, including final paychecks, commissions and earned bonuses
  • Unpaid overtime for hours worked beyond 40 in a week
  • Misclassification as an independent contractor or as an exempt salaried employee
  • Illegal deductions and off-the-clock work

The New Jersey Wage and Hour Law and Wage Payment Law allow employees to recover wages owed plus additional damages, and we pursue every dollar the law allows.

Workplace Discrimination, Including Disability Discrimination

Discrimination based on race, gender, age, disability, religion or sexual orientation violates federal and New Jersey law. We hold employers accountable for biased hiring, promotions, pay, discipline and firing decisions. That includes employees with disabilities who were refused a reasonable accommodation, pushed out after disclosing a medical condition or passed over because of it. If you need a workplace discrimination lawyer in New Jersey, we will review how your employer treated you compared with your coworkers and what the records show.

New Jersey Deadlines That Decide Whether You Can Sue

New Jersey gives employees some of the strongest workplace protections in the country, but every claim comes with a filing deadline. Once it passes, the claim can be lost no matter how strong it is.

  • New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD): Covers discrimination and harassment by employers of any size, with a two-year deadline to file a lawsuit.
  • Conscientious Employee Protection Act (CEPA): Protects employees who report or refuse to participate in illegal conduct, with a one-year deadline to file.
  • New Jersey Wage and Hour Law and Wage Payment Law: Let employees recover unpaid wages going back six years, plus liquidated damages of up to 200 percent of the wages owed.

If you are not sure which deadline applies to you, call now so we can find out before time runs short.

Employment Contract Disputes

We represent employees in disputes over the terms that govern how they work and how they leave. Whether you are exiting a role or challenging unfair terms, we will fight for your rights in matters involving:

  • Non-compete and non-solicitation clauses
  • Severance agreements and separation terms
  • Unpaid bonuses and incentive compensation
  • Breach of an employment contract

Questions New Jersey Employees Ask Before They Call

  • I was fired or pushed out of my job. Do I have a case?

You may, if the real reason was discrimination, harassment, retaliation for a complaint or report, or taking protected leave. The timing of the firing, what was said and how coworkers were treated often reveal more than the reason your employer gave. Call us at 908-219-4457 and we will review what happened with you.

  • How long do I have to file an employment lawsuit in New Jersey?

It depends on the claim. Whistleblower retaliation claims under CEPA generally must be filed within one year, most discrimination and harassment claims under the NJLAD within two years, and wage claims can reach back six years. Call 908-219-4457 as soon as possible so we can confirm your deadline.

  • Can my employer fire me for complaining?

No, not when the complaint is protected. New Jersey employment is generally at will, but an employer cannot fire or punish you for reporting discrimination, harassment, illegal conduct or safety violations. If you were let go after speaking up, call us at 908-219-4457.

  • What can I recover in a New Jersey employment case?

Depending on the claim, you may recover lost wages and benefits, future lost earnings, damages for emotional distress and, in some cases, punitive damages. The NJLAD and CEPA also allow successful employees to recover attorneys' fees, and wage claims can include liquidated damages of up to 200 percent of the wages owed. Call 908-219-4457 to talk through what your case may be worth.

  • Does it cost anything to talk to you about my case?

No. Your first consultation with our Summit office is free, and you are under no obligation to hire us. Call 908-219-4457 or send us a message through our contact page to schedule it.
