Jason Halper brings years of commercial litigation and transactional experience as Counsel to Smith + Schwartzstein LLC. Jason has represented clients in various industries in complex, high stakes litigation in New Jersey, New York, California, and other jurisdictions, including disputes relating to commercial real estate, contracts, business acquisitions and asset purchase transactions, consumer fraud and securities fraud class actions, franchise and distributor disputes, employment discrimination, and intellectual property licenses, among other matters.
Jason began his legal career as a litigator in the New York office of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. In 2003, after moving across the river to New Jersey, he began working in the Roseland office of Lowenstein Sandler LLP, a leading national law firm, eventually becoming a Litigation Partner at the firm in 2010. Then in 2015, Jason became General Counsel for Cheytec Telecommunications, LLC, a start-up telecommunications solutions provider that deployed and maintained indoor cellular communication systems. He was responsible for all of the company’s legal matters, and handled the sale of the company’s assets in August 2019 to Diamond Communications LLC, one of the largest privately-held wireless infrastructure companies in the United States.
Jason graduated magna cum laude from The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City in 2001. He received an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1997, where he played varsity baseball. Before law school, Jason played baseball professionally for the New York Yankees’ minor league affiliate in Oneonta, New York, in the New York Penn League.
In his spare time, Jason volunteers on the Board of Governors of Daughters of Israel, a non-profit skilled nursing facility. He is also a member of the Randolph, New Jersey Little League Baseball Committee. Jason also has an entrepreneurial spirit, as he is an investor in commercial real estate and several Jersey Mike’s Subs quick service restaurants and The UPS Store.
